Differentiated Instruction
We create our final rubrics together in class discussions.
Whole class discussions incorporate the following differentiated strategies:
ESL/ELL targeted strategies:
- Provide guiding sentences for ESL/ELL learners to participate in rubric-making activities
Whole class discussions incorporate the following differentiated strategies:
- Turn & Talk: Learners turn to person on either side and share ideas before having wider class discussions
- Post-It Share: Ideas are written on Post-Its and posted on the wall. Learners place check marks on Post-Its they agree with
- Padlet Share: Students post questions and answers to Padlet with their initials
ESL/ELL targeted strategies:
- Word Attack Annotation: Learners used standardized annotations to mark unknown vocabulary
- Science Doodles: Learners produce large scale scientific drawings illustrating science concepts and knowledge annotated with bullet-point notes
